The Tefal Pizza Pronto JM412010 is built around one idea: a cordierite stone that spins through a full circle when you twist a knob on the outside. It is aimed at people who like the idea of a gas pizza oven but feel nervous about turning a soft pizza with a peel. Tefal pitches it at novices and keen hobbyists alike, and it caps pizza size at 30 cm.

In its favour

  • You turn the cordierite stone with a knob, so even baking needs no peel skills or tools.
  • Tefal states a 15 year repair commitment, which helps if a part fails after the guarantee ends.
  • Foldable legs and a 13.7 kg weight make it easy to store between uses.

Good to know

  • The listing states the gas hose is not included, so budget for a hose and the right regulator.
  • Its stated 400°C top heat is lower than the 500°C claimed by several other ovens in this guide.

Our take

How the turning stone works

According to Tefal, the 360° stone needs no skills or tools to operate. You slide the pizza in, then use the knob to bring the pale side round to the flame. Because the pizza never leaves the stone, the base keeps contact with the hot surface throughout the bake.

The flame is adjustable, and Tefal quotes 400°C with pizzas done in under 90 seconds. That is a lower ceiling than several rival gas ovens claim, but for a 30 cm pizza it is still a very short bake.

What you need to buy separately

Read the box contents carefully. The listing includes the oven, a pizza shovel, a quick start guide with tutorial videos, the manual and safety instructions. It states plainly that the gas cylinder and the connection hose are not included, so plan to buy a hose and a regulator that suit your UK bottle before the first pizza night.

The free MyTefal app adds recipes for toppings, breads and desserts, which may help a beginner get more from the oven.

Size, weight and long-term repairs

Amazon lists the oven at 69.5 cm deep, 49.3 cm wide and 35 cm high, and 13.7 kg. Foldable legs help with storage. Tefal backs it with a 15-year repair commitment at a fair price through its network of 6,200 repairers, and spare parts are listed as available for 15 years in the EU.

Against the Jamie Oliver model and Mimiuo

The Jamie Oliver by Tefal oven uses a similar dial-turned cordierite stone, weighs 10.9 kg and, unlike the Pizza Pronto, ships with a hose and regulator. The Mimiuo Tisserie G-Oven turns its 13 inch stone with a motor rather than a knob and claims 500°C, at the cost of 15.3 kg.

Verdict

Buy the Pizza Pronto if you want Tefal's simple knob-turned stone, a long repair pledge and recipe support, and you are happy to source a hose yourself. If you would rather open the box and cook, the Jamie Oliver by Tefal oven includes the gas fittings and is lighter. If a hotter stated top temperature and hands-free turning appeal, look at the Mimiuo Tisserie G-Oven.
