12 inch or 16 inch

A 16 inch oven bakes bigger pizzas and gives more room to turn them; a 12 inch oven is smaller, lighter and quicker to heat.

UK pizza ovens are sold by the largest pizza they take, in inches. The area grows with the square of the diameter, so a 16 inch pizza has almost 80 % more area than a 12 inch one.

A bigger mouth and stone also leave space around the pizza, which makes launching and turning easier. The trade-off is weight, size and fuel use. Compare sizes with the pizza size comparer.
