In short
Gozney's range runs from portable to permanent. The Tread is the travel oven, the Roccbox is the compact all-rounder with an optional wood burner, the Arc and Arc XL are countertop gas ovens for about 14 and 16 inch pizzas, and the Dome is the large dual-fuel flagship. Gozney, based in Bournemouth, is known for heavily insulated ovens that hold heat well. Its range is smaller than Ooni's, which makes it easier to understand once you see how the models fit together. This guide lays them out by fuel, size and portability. Gozney revises its ovens and launches variants, so check gozney.com for current specs, weights and bundles.
The range at a glance
Gozney's ovens fall into three groups: portable (Tread and Roccbox), countertop gas (Arc and Arc XL) and large outdoor (Dome and its larger version).
| Model | Fuel | Pizza size | Portability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tread | Gas | Small, around 12 inch | Most portable |
| Roccbox | Gas, optional wood burner | Around 12 inch | Portable, heavy for size |
| Arc | Gas | Around 14 inch | Countertop |
| Arc XL | Gas | Around 16 inch | Countertop, larger |
| Dome | Wood, gas option | Around 16 inch | Semi-permanent |
Portable: Tread and Roccbox
The Roccbox is the oven that built Gozney's name. It is compact, with a soft-touch silicone jacket and thick insulation, and it can run on gas or, with Gozney's wood burner, on wood. It is heavy for its size, so it suits patios more than long walks to the beach.
The Tread is Gozney's travel oven, designed to be carried and set up away from home, with accessories that turn it into a small outdoor cooking station. It is gas only. Our Gozney Tread vs Roccbox article compares them in detail, and how to use a Gozney Roccbox covers setup.
Countertop gas: Arc and Arc XL
The Arc family uses a burner along the side rather than the back, with a flame that rolls across the dome. Both are designed for a worktop or stand. The Arc takes pizzas of around 14 inches and the XL about 16 inches. They are a good fit for people who want bigger pizzas than a Roccbox but do not want the size or wood fire of a Dome.
The flagship: Dome
The Dome is a large, heavy oven designed to burn wood, with a gas option. Its thick floor and dome hold heat for a long time, so it can bake bread, roast and smoke as well as make pizza. It needs a permanent or semi-permanent spot, ideally on a stand or outdoor kitchen. Gozney also sells a larger version and a gas-only variant; check which one you are buying.
Our Gozney Dome vs Arc XL article explains when the Dome is worth it.
How to choose
Start with where the oven will live. If it moves every weekend, look at the Tread. If it lives on a small patio and moves sometimes, the Roccbox fits. If you have worktop space and want bigger pizzas on gas, choose an Arc. If you want wood fire and all-day cooking in a permanent spot, choose the Dome.
Then think about fuel. Only the Roccbox (with burner) and the Dome can use wood. The others are gas only. If you want to compare Gozney with Ooni model by model, see Gozney vs Ooni.
What all Gozney ovens share
Every Gozney oven uses dense insulation and a thick stone floor. That makes them heavier than many rivals of the same size, but it also means the stone recovers quickly between pizzas and the outside stays cooler than a thin steel oven. For back-to-back pizzas at a party, that steadiness is a real advantage.
They also share an accessory ecosystem: Gozney peels, turning peels, covers, stands and thermometers, with model-specific covers and stands. Plan for a launching peel, a turning peel and an infrared thermometer as a minimum; see pizza oven accessories you actually need.
Living with a Gozney in a British garden
Rain and damp are the main enemies of any outdoor oven. A stone that absorbs water can crack when heated, and burners and igniters dislike moisture. Use a fitted cover, keep the oven off wet grass and bring portable models indoors over winter. Our storing a pizza oven over winter guide covers the details.
Wind also matters for side and rear burners. Turn the opening away from the prevailing wind on the day, and give the oven a few extra minutes to heat in cold weather.
Buying in the UK
Gozney sells directly and through UK retailers. Availability on amazon.co.uk is patchy, so our buying guides include alternatives that are listed there. See best gas pizza ovens, best portable pizza ovens and best wood-fired pizza ovens.
Note:Gas and wood pizza ovens are for outdoor use only. Keep them away from fences, sheds and anything that can burn.
